FAQ

Please read below some of the most common questions/answers our prospective customers might have. If there’s any questions you don’t see an answer for, please contact us. We’ll be happy to answer them for you.

Are you available at all times?

Our normal hours of operation are 7am until 7pm every day of the week. If you have any concerns or questions, we are available from 7am until 10pm every day. And yes, we do work 365 days a year, including ALL Holidays (there is a 50% surcharge for Holiday visits).7

How do I know my pets will be safe?

At Dog Bone, safety is a top priority.  We provide best in class pet care AND we know how important your pet is to you, so all of our employees must pass a safety certification training before taking care of your loved ones!

Does Dog Bone have a mobile app?

Yes, we have a free mobile app that can do everything from scheduling dog walks and pet sitting visits and updating personal, pet and payment information. You can even elect to have text, email or push notification updates.

What details will I receive during your service?

You receive a Pet Care Journal with details of the dog walk or pet sitting, visit or stay with information such as a GPS-tracked map of the walk, potty updates, photos and more. It is also very important that we know how our employees are doing, so we ask pet parents to provide a review for each dog walk and pet sitting visit. We encourage the comments to be very detailed.

Will my dog be walked with other dogs?

We love all pets, but when your pet is in the care of one of our Pet Care Specialists, we will not introduce yours to any other animals.

Can you administer medication?

We are trained and certified in pet care, and can provide medications and first aid necessary and do not charge extra for providing medications.

How do I provide keys to my home?

We can provide a Dog Bone lock box so your keys are always safe and protected!

Will you walk my dog in extreme temperatures?

We have restrictions when the heat index reaches certain levels. Dogs get hot very easily and we care about that fact. We have special packages available during hot months that allow for safer visits and exercise. We also carry water and water dishes on all walks when the temperature is above 85 degrees. It doesn’t get below freezing in Dallas often, but when it does we take every precaution to ensure your pets are safe.

What associations does Dog Bone have?

We are A+ accredited by the Better Business Bureau and are Certified Professional Pet Sitters with both the National Association of Professional Pet Sitters and Pet Sitters International. Dog Bone was the 2022 Winner of the Torch Award for Ethics by the Better Business Bureau Serving North Texas.

Do you offer training?

We partner with local trainers that provide obedience classes and private lessons, using positive reinforcement and reward based training methods. We utilize your pets’ favorite things (treats, praise, petting, play) to teach and encourage proper behavior. Just contact us for more information!

Do you offer a reward program for friends and family that are referred?

Pet Parents tend to come in “packs”, and we offer a rewards program for any pet parent that refers another pet parent to our pack. If you refer a new client that books a service with us, you will get a $20 credit upon completion of their first service. Spread the word!

What pet records do you need?

We require updated records regarding vaccinations and health. We want to know the medical history of the pets we care for, which can ensure the safety and support necessary to care for every pet we touch. This is important to us because we take pet safety very seriously.

What are the first steps?

We always schedule a free meet/greet between pet owner, pet(s) and Pet Care Specialist prior to first service. This will put you at ease, establish a personal relationship between pet owner and their pet care specialist as well as pet and pet care specialist.

What is your cancellation policy?

We understand your schedule can change at a moment’s notice. That’s why we provide easy, flexible scheduling. We do ask that our clients provide as much notice as possible if a walk, visit or stay needs to be canceled. Same day requests for dog walks and pet sitting visits will incur an additional fee and any appointments canceled within 24 hours of the scheduled appointment may result in a full charge.

Are there additional fees for nights and weekends?

Unlike most other companies we don’t charge you extra for walks on weekends. We do charge an additional fee for any pet sitting visits arriving 7 PM.

Have you made changes because of the pandemic?

With the new normal we live in now with Covid, we want to ensure that we take special precautions when visiting your pets. We completed a Covid-19 Certification course from Pet Sitters International in 2020.  We can wear shoe booties and/or gloves upon request.
